3D Timelapse Viewer of Satellite Image Data
Real-time 3D renderer of satellite imagery over Alberta, Canada — Landsat RGB/thermal composites draped on ASTER elevation, animated across 11 August snapshots (1990–2010).
A real-time WebGL renderer that drapes multi-year Landsat satellite imagery (RGB and thermal composites) over ASTER digital-elevation terrain, animating eleven August snapshots (1990–2010) into a 3D timelapse. On-the-fly spectral index shaders track the retreat and growth of geographical features — surface water area, snow and ice coverage, and vegetation spread — each with an adjustable confidence interval. The scene can be inspected in RGB, greyscale, or black-and-white modes, orbited freely, and scrubbed year-by-year.

The viewer streams ~150 MB of satellite imagery from the project's GitHub Pages host — the first load can take a while on slower connections. The source repository is archived and read-only.
